MakerBridge The 3MF converter for Bambu Studio and Snapmaker U1
Found a great model on MakerWorld but print on a Snapmaker U1? MakerBridge turns an editable Bambu Studio project into a U1 project, and a U1 project back into a Bambu one, keeping the painted colors, plates, layer heights and supports.
Version 1.1.8 beta · Mac and Windows · free
Mac
Download for Mac- Unzip it and drag MakerBridge to Applications (or run it from the folder).
- The beta isn’t notarized by Apple yet. If macOS won’t open it, go to System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
Windows
Download for Windows- Run the installer. It installs just for you, so no administrator password.
- The installer isn’t code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn you: click More info › Run anyway.
What you need
Python and the converter are built in. You only need the slicer for the direction you’re converting to:
| Converting | Install |
|---|---|
| MakerWorld / Bambu Studio → U1 (also Creality Print, Anycubic Slicer Next, experimental) | Snapmaker Orca with the U1 printer profiles |
| Snapmaker U1 → Bambu / MakerWorld | Bambu Studio with your Bambu printer and nozzle profiles |
Tested with Snapmaker Orca 2.4.0 and Bambu Studio 02.08.04.57. Bambu targets include the A1, A1 mini, A2L, P1P, P1S, P2S, X1, X1 Carbon, X1E, X2D, H2S, H2D, H2D Pro and H2C, with 0.2 to 0.8 mm nozzles where the profiles are installed.
Which projects work
Any editable project 3MF (the file you save from the slicer, not sliced G-code). MakerWorld downloads and Bambu Studio projects are the main source. Projects saved in Creality Print and Anycubic Slicer Next also convert to the U1, as an experimental input on the same 3MF → U1 tab.
| Project from | To U1 | Tested with |
|---|---|---|
| MakerWorld / Bambu Studio | Yes | Bambu Studio 02.08.04.57 |
| Creality Print | Yes, experimental | Creality Print 7.3.0.6157 (Mac), K3 with a 0.4 mm nozzle |
| Anycubic Slicer Next | Yes, experimental | Anycubic Slicer Next 2.0.0.3 (Mac), Kobra S1 with a 0.4 mm nozzle |
| Older Anycubic Slicer | No |
The Creality and Anycubic tests used four-color painted projects with two plates, including variable layer heights: painted colors, plates and their layout, layer heights, walls, infill, supports and per-object settings all passed the conversion checks, and test plates sliced in Snapmaker Orca and Bambu Studio (check bed and material temperatures afterward). That’s a good sign, not a promise for every printer or project: more than four colors, mixed or “virtual” filaments and textured materials from these slicers aren’t covered yet.
Going the other way, MakerBridge converts U1 projects to Bambu only. There’s no direct Creality or Anycubic output, and no direct Creality/Anycubic → Bambu conversion.
How it works
- Open MakerBridge and pick a direction: 3MF → U1 or U1 → Bambu / MakerWorld.
- Drop in an editable project 3MF (not a sliced G-code file).
- Check the colors and nozzle, then Convert & save to a new file. Your original is never changed.
- Open the new project in Snapmaker Orca or Bambu Studio, look over the plates, colors, supports and temperatures, then slice.
What’s new in 1.1.8
- The forward tab is now called 3MF → U1 (it was MakerWorld → U1).
- A Compatible inputs card shows which projects work: MakerWorld / Bambu Studio, plus experimental Creality Print and Anycubic Slicer Next.
- Clearer prompts about using an editable project 3MF. Conversion itself is unchanged from 1.1.7, including its fix that keeps every plate when extra filament slots aren’t used.
Good to know
- It’s a beta. Always review the converted project in your slicer before printing: plates, colors, supports and temperatures.
- The U1 has four toolheads. Projects using up to four colors keep every plate; bigger ones convert one plate at a time.
- Going to Bambu, MakerBridge makes an editable Bambu Studio project. It doesn’t upload anything to MakerWorld.
- Everything runs on your computer. Nothing is uploaded.
Check the download: SHA-256 checksums are in SHA256SUMS.txt.
Questions
How do I convert a MakerWorld 3MF for the Snapmaker U1?
Download the project 3MF from MakerWorld (or save it from Bambu Studio), open MakerBridge, choose 3MF → U1 and drop the file in. Check the colors and nozzle, click Convert & save, then open the new file in Snapmaker Orca and slice. You need Snapmaker Orca installed with the U1 printer profiles.
Can Snapmaker Orca open a Bambu Studio 3MF directly?
Opening a Bambu project straight in Snapmaker Orca doesn’t set it up for the U1: the printer, process and filament profiles and the color-to-toolhead mapping all need changing. MakerBridge rewrites the project for the U1 so the painted colors, plates, layer heights and supports come through ready to slice.
Does it keep painted (multicolor) models?
Yes. Painted colors are kept and mapped onto the U1’s four toolheads. Projects with up to four colors keep every plate; projects with more convert one plate at a time, as long as that plate uses four colors or fewer.
Can I convert a Snapmaker U1 project to Bambu Lab?
Yes. Choose U1 → Bambu / MakerWorld, pick your Bambu printer and nozzle (A1, P1S, P2S, X1, X2D, H2D and more), and MakerBridge saves an editable Bambu Studio project you can slice or publish to MakerWorld yourself.
Does it work with Creality Print or Anycubic projects?
Yes, as an experimental input: Creality Print and Anycubic Slicer Next project 3MFs convert to the U1 on the same 3MF → U1 tab. Older Anycubic Slicer projects aren’t supported.
Is MakerBridge free, and does it upload my files?
It’s free for Mac (Apple silicon) and Windows 10/11. Everything runs on your computer; nothing is uploaded.
